Introduction to Vintage Heart!

Welcome reader! I am so thrilled to finally be posting my intro post!
In case you don't know me, here's a little bit about who I am:
I am a Christian, saved by Christ's grace alone.
I'm a sixteen-year-old homeschooler growing up in Midwest America.
I love writing. Currently I'm working on my fourth draft of my fantasy novel, while co-authoring a fantasy series with my best friend and serving as a writer for a newspaper my friends have launched. Writing is my passion, and I can't wait to share some of my writing with you all!
I also adore reading. Classics and y/a fantasy are my favorites, although a few others have weaseled their way into my heart. (Looking at you Jan Karon...)
BBC shows are very much my jam.
I am a dog lover who also drinks tea around the clock and gets excited when it rains.
So why the theme Vintage Heart?
A while ago, I was scrolling through Pinterest and I came across the quote, "She was an old soul with young eyes, a vintage heart, and a beautiful mind."
Immediately I had the thought, 'That. That is what I want someone to say about me.'
For the past year or so, my parents have joked about being "against the grain" or "counter cultural." They meant that they wanted to be the exact opposite from the world and live as something separate. Something like foreigners in a strange land.
"Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is good, pleasing, and the perfect will of God." -Romans 12:2
The more that I did my own digging and study of Scripture, I saw that my parents had it right all along. God's word tells us to be set apart and distinctly separate from the world and the passions around us.
As a teenager, that can feel really hard. Our friends hem us in on every side, pressuring us to do what they consider "cool" or what "feels good". And we are the first generation to grow up a strange new digital age that bombards us with information day in and day out, whispering temptations into our ears and planting seeds of doubt in our minds.
But Jesus is so much bigger and stronger than our friends. He's more powerful than our phones. And he is calling us to fix our eyes solely on Him and run straight towards Him without pausing to entertain the world around us.
So when I had the thought that I wanted someone to think that quote about me, what I meant was that I wanted to be different. I wanted someone to be able to look at me and see something about my life that was slightly "off", something that was unusual from the rest of the world.
Something that was set apart, or "vintage" for lack of a better term.
What you'll find in this blog is going to be very counter-cultural by the world's standards. Some of my ideas may be positively antiquated. But as long as I know that it's the truth, and as long as it matches up with Scripture, I will be sure to boldly write whatever vintage ideas may come to mind.
It's important to know that we aren't alone out there, and that we can be faithful to the calling God has placed on our lives.
My goal is to write fun, engaging articles for teenagers like me. Articles around hairstyles, recipes, vacation spots, books, scripture, and maybe just a little bit of theology. ;). I want you to feel strengthened and encouraged. Being transformed by Christ transforms every aspect of our lives, not just the church part. And that certainly doesn't mean we can't have fun!
So, whether it's an article about cupcakes or an article about anxiety, I hope you'll find something to encourage you and let you know that it's okay to be vintage sometimes. We don't have to be ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ or the convictions He leads us to ♥.
If you're interested in sticking around, please subscribe! I would love to have you along for the ride.
With love,
-Mira
