(bonus post!!) PAGING ALL WRITERS!

You know it's a special week when you get two blog posts from me!
So, why am I popping into your inboxes twice in one week? What could possibly be so important that I'm bombarding you with a grand total of two whole emails?!
Well, as of now, my audience is mostly young writers like me, and I want to share with you an absolutely amazing opportunity that I am so excited for.
Have you ever sat there staring at a blank page, terrified to write in case you "ruined" your story? Have you ever procrastinated writing because you just don't know how to keep going? Have you ever felt like your words are pointless, and there's no point in writing at all?
If you have, you're not alone.
As I type, I'm ignoring the death-glares from my current work in progress. It's taken me almost four months to get to chapter twelve, which is surprisingly pathetic for my normal word-count.
I've gone through those seasons of doubt, wondering why I'm even pouring time into writing when I could be doing other more "important" things.
I've questioned what the point is of even writing down a story.
And I've almost thrown in the towel with writing anything.
But, here's the thing.
God doesn't give us pointless talents. A gift for singing can be used to glorify his name as a worship leader, or even just a mom singing her child to sleep. A gift for cooking can be used to bring joy to the new parents down the street or the sweet old lady recovering from surgery. A gift for arranging flowers can be used to brighten the days of the local hospital patients.
Imagine what writing can be used for.
Oftentimes, people can look at you funny, or laugh, or even tell you straight out that writing is a pointless thing to chase. People picture a starving artist on the street corner when you tell them that you want to be a writer.
But, the truth is writing isn't actually that hard to make a living off of in today's modern age. And if you pair your love of writing with a practical day job, you can be published without the stress of making writing your full time career.
Let me repeat this: God doesn't give us pointless talents.
And writing? Well, it's a talent that can change the world.
And even if you never reach C.S Lewis level of achievements, or even don't publish your works for years, you can still impact the lives of the people around you because words are powerful.
And when God gives us a talent, it's our job to steward it well. For writing, that means practicing, learning and growing, honing your craft, and waiting for God to use your words to touch the hearts of your readers, however many they may be.
The world needs more stories with Godly men. It needs more stories with wholesome family. It needs more stories without language. It needs stories that share the gospel.
It needs stories written by Christian authors like you.
So, let me step off my soapbox and explain to you this opportunity I wanted to share with you all.
Allow me to introduce Jesus Writing Month.
What is Jesus Writing Month?
Jesus Writing Month was made for people like you.
Justice Tilsher designed Jesus Writing Month for the young Christian writer, struggling with doubt in their story.
It's a month long sprint with encouragement and prayer for writers to encourage them that they're not alone. Christ gave us stories for a reason, and we write to bring glory to his name. If you join the free challenge, you'll be surrounded by other writers, Christians who want to hone their craft and glorify God with the story he's given them.
Jesus Writing Month begins in November and will take place until December. It's free right now if you click the link below and help get this thing across the finish line.
"Jesus Writing Month is a 30 day writing revival- born out of the belief that your story isn't just a hobby... it's a calling. It combines: the urgency of a 30 day sprint, the structure of biblical storytelling, and the spiritual support you've always needed (but never had). -Justice Tilsher
